The Problem

The challenge was to create a Rise 360 training course on Standard Precautions for a fictional home health aide company called Home Health Heroes.
The proposed course needed to be founded in research and provide learners with an effective overview of the following topics:

1. Hand Hygiene
2. Personal Protective Equipment
3. Cleaning & Disinfecting the Home Environment
4. Safe Handling & Disposal of Single-Use Medical Items

The multimedia course needed to be written in a clear, informative manner for learners with a range of educational backgrounds. It needed to be accessible on a variety of devices and include end-of-unit assessments.
And it all had to be done in less than 24 hours.
The Solution

I started by researching each element of Standard Precautions, using resources from the CDC, Johns Hopkins University, and other established medical experts. Next, I assembled my notes into an outline and developed it into a script. Before creating the course on Rise 360, I had the script reviewed by a licensed medical professional to ensure accuracy. Finally, I created the course on Rise 360, incorporating publicly available media from Pexels, Creative Commons, and YouTube.
The end product is an informative, organized, and engaging course. Most importantly, it's my favorite kind of course content: the kind that helps people to help people.
